Magic by numbers


Hundreds in successive Tests by Dilip Vengsarkar, the first and only visiting batsman to accomplish the feat at Lord's. Vengsarkar scored 103 in 1979, 157 in 1982 and 126 not out in 1986. In all, he managed 508 in four Tests at an average of 72. 57, including three hundreds and one fifty.


Centuries by England's Graham Gooch and Michael Vaughan, sharing a record for the most hundreds at Lord's.


Wickets captured by Ian Botham, conceding 34 runs, in Pakistan's second innings of 139 in 1978. It remains the best figures in an innings at the venue.


Tests lost by India out of 15 contested (one victory and four draws), the most by a visiting team at this venue.


Wickets captured by Ian Botham at an average of 24. 53 in 15 Tests, the most by any bowler at Lord's. His tally includes eight instances of five wickets or more in an innings (the most by any bowler) and one instance of ten wickets in a match.


Runs scored by Graham Gooch - 333 & 123 versus India in 1990 - a world record for most runs in a Test. He is the only batsman to achieve the feat of a triple hundred and a century in the same Test.


Runs scored by Gooch in 21 Tests at an average of 53. 02, including six hundreds and five fifties - the only batsman to aggregate more than 2, 000 runs at this venue.
