MILE-HIGH ORGANIC Afraid that you're consuming more chemicals than nature intended when you eat airline food? Worry no more if you're flying Etihad Airways. In an effort to distinguish itself from rival Gulf Arab carriers - which offer shower cubicles - Etihad Airways has decided to focus on offering more organic produce. The airlines recently invested in buying 200 hens and three beehives as part of their organic food endeavours. The state-backed Abu Dhabi airline, which competes against Dubai-owned Emirates airline and Qatar Airways, said on Thursday its new hens and bees will produce eggs and honey to be served exclusively to its passengers. Also on the developing block: "A line of signature pickles, " which Etihad says "are made entirely of organic items including paprika, chili, onion, capsicum, and dates. " The airline says these will be served with warm bread and "a range of cheese". The eggs from the freerange hens will be used in first-class dishes, including "the hugely popular 'eggs any style' breakfast option, " prepared by the airline's onboard chefs.
