Nidhi Chandra, an IT professional, who spends as much time social networking in the virtual world as she does talking to her real friends, grudgingly accepted Facebook's Timeline feature recently. "It is one of biggest changes to the site's user interface. . . and since its not going to be optional within a few weeks, I thought why delay the inevitable, " she says. Introduced on September 22 at F8, an annual event hosted by the social network, founder Mark Zuckerberg explained the thought process behind Timeline. "Millions of people have invested a ton of time in telling the story of their life on their profile. Our job is to find the best way to share who you are, " he said in his keynote address. "Timeline is the story of your life, and it has three pieces: all your stories, all your apps, and a new way to express who you are. " Nidhi, however, had been avoiding the new profile layout especially since most of her friends who tried it out called it "ridiculous".
