Amid Congress's tax woes, Rahul Gandhi issued a stern warning that BJP's ouster from power will be followed by exemplary action which will deter others in future from "disrobing democracy".
Rahul posted on X: "When govt changes, action will definitely be taken against those who 'disrobed democracy'! And the action will be so strong that no one will again dare to do all this.
This is my guarantee." He also posted an old video featuring him in which he first issued the remark where he had specifically mentioned CBI and ED and warned them saying that "a day will come when there will be no BJP govt and then there will be action and they should be mindful of that".
Congress will hold nationwide protests over the weekend against "tax terrorism" of Modi govt, with Lok Sabha election candidates asked to lead the charge in their constituencies. AICC general secretary K C Venugopal has directed the party units that strong demonstrations should be held across states down to the district level, and all senior leaders should participate to raise the voice against the BJP's "egregious attack on democracy".
The senior AICC leader said, "As is known world over, BJP is out to financially eliminate Congress and has filed multiple frivolous cases against us right on the eve of elections. Against this action, all state units will be protesting across the country. This is not about our party alone, it is a systematic bludgeoning of people's voice. And people will revolt."
