Representing Karnataka and Bangalore Urban district in the Rajya Sabha, he is the only MP with 98 per cent attendance in Parliament. He also works closely with the local government and civic agencies to work towards resolving the rapidly expanding city's urban woes. <br>Chandrasekhar feels that for someone like him who is not an elected politician, yet is deeply involved in politics, social media is his "online constituency". "Unlike conventional media, social media is not one-way communication. It is not a medium for those who are unsure of their positions, because you have to defend yourself and you should be able to handle criticism, " says Chandrasekhar. <br>"Any agency that means to engage with people needs to use social media, be it politicians or the traffic police. " Yet, he admits our politicians are behind the curve when it comes to using social media effectively - barring a few exceptions, most see it as a "fad" and go online only because their parties tell them to.

"Now, at least 2, 000 youths from my constituency are on my friend list, "he says. <br>Hailing from Ariyalur, one of the most backward districts in central Tamil Nadu, Sivasankar has been actively interacting with voters in his constituency through FB. "Many youngsters in my constituency have moved to other places. But they are still in touch with me through FB, "Sivasankar adds. But for him, satisfaction is most when he gets requests on FB from voters in his constituency asking for roads, drinking water and other welfare projects. <br>The DMK MLA has also been updating his visits to the constituency and other activities on his FB page. "There was a time when our leaders used to address public meetings and street corner gatherings frequently with an aim to develop the party. Now the platform has changed, "he says. "We have to adapt to new technologies. New media has been growing as a parallel platform to discuss issues. Our youth wing has been active in the new media in the past one year, "he adds. The first-time MLA has inspired many DMK leaders to sign in on social networking sites and reach out to this growing vote bank.
