Edu dept revises school timings as weather improves in state
Ranchi: The Department of School Education and Literacy in Jharkhand has issued a new order regarding the class timings in schools across the state in view of the change in weather. According to the order, classes from KG to Class VIII will now be held from 7 am to 11:30 am, while classes from Class IX onwards will be held from 7 am to 12 pm. The new timings will be implemented with immediate effect.
The letter stated, “The amendment has been made in response to the variation in timing reported from different districts. The aim is to streamline the schedule and ensure uniformity across all categories of schools, including govt, non-govt aided, unaided (including minority) and private schools.”
However, all classes will resume at their pre-determined time after the summer vacation. Private schools will also need to adhere to the guidelines set under the provisions of The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act and management. Notably, the Jharkhand govt issued an order on Friday, allowing all schools to resume classes from May 13. Classes had been suspended up to class VIII since April 29 in the wake of a severe heatwave across the state.
